Oswestry’s Joe Clarke has got off to a solid start for Perth Scorchers in the Big Bash League in Australia.
The top order batsman smashed a quick fire 10 from six balls in Perth’s seven wicket defeat to the Melbourne Renegades last week.
But the Nottinghamshire man built on that on Wednesday as he hit 34 from 16 balls including one four and three sixes, as he helped his side to 158/6 against Melbourne Stars.
The game was abandoned due to rain in the end with the Stars just seven balls into their response.
The opening results leave Perth seventh in the Big Bash League but there is plenty of cricket left to play.
Clarke’s side take on Sydney Thunder on Tuesday, before one more game between Christmas and New Year against Adelaide Strikers.
The start of the franchise competition comes just a couple of months after the batsman was linked with a selection for England’s trip to South Africa.
